With the entire world’s attention turn towards competitive skiing at the Milan Cortina Olympics, an infamous folly from a 2007 World Cup Super-G race in 2007 in Kvitfjell, Norway has once again gone viral.

French racer Yannick Bertrand is the star of the of gut-wrenching clip that seems to rack up views every Winter Olympic cycle. In it he cuts a gate a bit too close and it ends up striking him directly in the groin while he was traveling at speeds in excess of 60mph.

“The boys took a beating on that one.”

The commentator laid it on pretty thick with empathy at the audible slap of the gate:

“Oh, the gate to the groin for Yannick Bertrand, and you could hear it and if you’re a man you could feel it. Oh, the Frenchman. Oh monsieur.”

The clip of Bertrand’s ski folly was resurface on X during the first full week of Milan Cortina Games and where it has already been viewed millions of times. Yannick ended up 36th place at the long forgotten race in Kvitfjell and made a full recovery.
