Team Mongolia

There’s a lot to love about the Winter Olympic games but for fashion minded folks nothing beats the Opening Ceremonies. Every four years athletes from the world march in unison into packed venues decked out in the latest greatest duds from top designers.

This year Team USA will be sporting Ralph Lauren when they walk in to the Siro Olympic Stadium in Milan while Canadian athletes will be decked out head to toe in Lululemon. While many big names from the fashion world will be center stage on Friday, there’s a small cashmere clothing company from central Asia that is making quite a stir as we lead up to the torch lighting.

Vogue agrees, Team Mongolia has the most anticipated entrance after making a splash with their unique uniforms two years ago at the Summer Olympic in Paris. The 2026 Team Mongolia uniforms feature Mongolian cashmere and draw inspiration from attire of the Great Mongol Empire of the 13th-15th centuries.

The full line of Team Mongolia’s opening ceremony outfits is available for purhchase GOYOL’s website including the traditional mens and womens deel (~$785 USD). Read the full statement GOYOL about the inspiration behind the uniforms below.

GOYOL Statement On Official Gear:

We are pleased to officially present the ceremonial and casual outfits to be worn by Team Mongolia at the Milanoโ€“Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games.

Guided by the noble mission of presenting Mongoliaโ€™s distinctive national identity and cultural heritage on the Olympic stageโ€”a global symbol of unity and peaceโ€”the Mongolian National Olympic Committee entrusted our company with the prestigious responsibility of designing and creating the ceremonial attire for Team Mongolia at the Winter Olympic Games. We are honored to have fulfilled this responsibility with the utmost pride and dedication.

Rather than merely blending traditional garments with modern design, this collection aims to reintroduce the ancient Mongolian clothing cultureโ€”an inseparable part of our great history and cultural heritageโ€”to the contemporary world and share it on a global stage. Drawing inspiration from the attire of the Great Mongol Empire of the 13thโ€“15th centuries, one of the most powerful periods in our nationโ€™s history, the designs preserve essential traditional elements such as a functional skirt slit that allows freedom of movement, a raised collar that protects against wind and cold, and a fully closed overlapping front symbolizing warmth and unity. Finest Mongolian cashmere is elegantly finished with silk trimming, embroidered with traditional horn motifs, infusing the garments with a refined ceremonial character.

Using Mongolian cashmereโ€”long relied upon by our nomadic people to endure harsh wintersโ€”we have created ceremonial deels that honor traditional history and culture, alongside premium cashmere knit casual ensembles inspired by alpine ski sweaters rooted in Western mountain culture, enriched with motifs of the Mongolian ger and nomadic life.

Through these designs, we proudly present to the global sporting stage the resilience, wisdom, and warrior spirit forged over thousands of years by Mongolians who have endured the eternal winters of the Central Asian highlands.
