While you may not currently be able to ski at Telluride as the ski resort is closed due to a ski patrol union strike, you can save a bit of money on parking. In an effort to help support local businesses during the strike, the Town of Mountain Village is offering free day parking at the Gondola Parking Garage, Heritage Parking Garage, and the Meadows Lot for as long as the resort remains closed:
“In an effort to support Mountain Village businesses during the ski patrol strike and ski area closure, the Town of Mountain Village will be offering free day parking in the Gondola Parking Garage, Heritage Parking Garage, and the Meadows Lot beginning on Saturday, December 27 for the duration of the resort closure. Standard hourly rates will still apply in North and South Village Center lots. Overnight parking fees in Gondola Parking Garage and overnight marking rules in the Meadows will still apply. The gondola and the chondola will run on regular schedules during the ski area closure. No mountain access will be allowed from Station San Sophia during the closure.” -Town of Mountain Village
One can imagine the hit local businesses are taking as tourist visitations dry up during what would normally be peak holiday vacation time. It might only be a small consolation but every incentive to keep tourist dollars flowing counts and we hope folks take advantage of the free parking and continue to patronage all of the businesses in town as much as possible.
