Hermon, Maine It could be the final ski season ever for New Hermon Mountain.

Earlier this fall, the owners of New Hermon Mountain announced their intentions to retire after the 2025-26 season. Bangorites collectively fear that their local ski area could be gone after this winter.

There was brief hope last week when a couple announced that they were in discussions to buy the mountain. Nicole Herstik and Jesse Clement, who run a local BMX track, were trying to figure out the financing to finalize the deal. Unfortunately, it sounds like it didn’t work out.

Here’s the official message we received earlier this week from them:

“Subject: Update on Hermon Mountain Purchase Contract

Good Afternoon, I wanted to provide a quick update regarding the Hermon Mountain acquisition. Unfortunately, after extensive discussions, the sellers and our team were not able to reach final terms, and the purchase contract has now been formally terminated. We truly appreciate your time, interest, and patience throughout this process. We remain hopeful that the next buyer will bring great opportunities for the mountain and that it will continue to thrive for the community.

Thank you again for your support and engagement.

Warm regards,

Nicole”

About New Hermon Mountain

Situated ten minutes away from Bangor, New Hermon Mountain (it also goes by Hermon Mountain for some reason) serves as a feeder hill to the bigger options in Maine. The ski area features 20 trails, 3 lifts, a vertical drop of 350 feet, night skiing, and snow tubing. During the offseason, there doesn’t appear to be much going on there, so maybe that’s a future business opportunity for new ownership.
