Ohakune, New Zealand — If you’re looking to ski for cheap next season in New Zealand, one ski resort is offering a fantastic deal through the end of this month.
This week, Tūroa announced its season pass prices for the 2026 winter season. The price point is a phenomenal deal for Kiwi skiers at $388 NZD and $88 NZD for kids (ages 6 to 16). As of October 17th, that is valued at around $222.39 USD. The pass gives unlimited access to Tūroa for the 2026 ski season. The pass will go on sale on October 22nd and stay at that price until October 31st.
With New Zealand going through a tough economic period, the pass price is intended to help passionate skiers afford next winter and also bring new guests to the sport.
“We know Kiwis love to get outdoors, stay active, and try new adventures, but the cost of snow sports can often be a barrier, especially in today’s economic climate,” said Jono Dean, CEO of Tūroa. “This special season pass offer is about breaking down those financial obstacles and inviting everyone to experience the thrill of Tūroa on Mount Ruapehu.”
“The Ohakune community’s support has been crucial to the launch of Pure Tūroa, and this is our way of giving back,” Dean added. “We believe this is New Zealand’s most value-driven winter season pass, and we’re excited to reignite a passion for winter sports across Aotearoa.”
If you’re looking to ski there this winter, there’s still time to do so. Tūroa’s closing date for the 2025 season is October 26th.
About Tūroa
Situated on the North Island of New Zealand, Tūroa is one of the three ski areas on Mt. Ruapehu. The ski area features 500 hectares (1,235.5 acres) of skiable terrain, a vertical drop of 722 meters (2,369 feet), and seven lifts. It was recently owned by Mt. Ruapheu Lifts, which also ran Whakapapa, but a bankruptcy forced its sale to Pure Tūroa. As you can tell, the new ownership group is doing good work in recruiting new skiers to the mountain and keeping the locals happy. Kia ora!
