Arizona — One of the most devastating stories from this summer so far has been the devastation caused by the Dragon Bravo Fire. Starting on July 4th, the Dragon Bravo Fire eventually made it to the Grand Canyon’s North Rim. This included the historic Grand Canyon Lodge, which was initially constructed in 1927 and 1928.

Over 70 structures in the North Rim were destroyed, including the Grand Canyon Lodge. However, the motel room buildings and some of the cabins near the Grand Canyon Lodge remain standing.

Last week, photos emerged of the fire’s impact on the North Rim. The images captured by NPS photographer Matt Jenkins show the destruction of the Grand Canyon Lodge, but some of the structural bones remain. It’ll be interesting to see whether they try to reuse these parts if it is indeed rebuilt.
