The Leissieres Chairlift in Val d’Isère, France is famous for offering one of the best views in the French Alps but suffice to say its for the faint of heart.

The high-speed 6-person chairlift ascends Ouilette Peak, goes over the apex and then down the other side in what riders describe as a sensation similar to a rollercoaster drop. Steep ascents of chairlifts can be unnerving but steep descents are worse as you feel you may tumble forward out of your seat.

Some skiers and snowboarders are nonchalant about putting the safety bar down while riding the chairlift at their local ski hill but on The Leissieres compliance is near 100%:
