A webcam stationed at theย summit of Wildcat Mountain in New Hampshire captured footage of a snowboarder outrunning and avalanche in Tuckerman Ravine on New Hampshire. According to the Mount Washington Observatory, the slide occurred on Tuesday, March 11.

As the video begins, a keen eye can spot the snowboarder dropping into the bowl. Once the camera zooms in, the snowboarder can be seen outrunning the avalanche coming down above them. Fortunately nobody was caught or injured in the slide.

The Mount Washington Avalanche Center currently has the avalanche danger in the area set as low, but that does not mean slides aren’t possible. Always make sure you have the proper gear and training before heading out into the backcountry, and study the avalanche forecast before leaving.
