You have likely seen robot demonstrations videos from companies like Boston Dynamics and Tesla doing party tricks such as serving drinks, backflipping off platforms and synchronized dancing but when it comes to off-road capabilities this Chinese startup just put the industry on notice.
Deep Robotics, officially known as Hangzhou Yunshenchu Technology Company, is a global leader in quadruped robot technology. Their embodied AI equipped robots have been successfully deployed across China in various fields including fire detection, power station inspections, and emergency rescue but they may now be tasked with jobs in the backcountry.
Deep Robotics just debuted a new off-road wheeled quadruped model and its is ridiculously impressive. Not difficult to imagine how this technology might be deployed in the mountains as it can both ascend and descend steep and variable terrain. Whether it’s delivering medical supplies for a backcountry rescue or ordering Uber eats to mountain summits, this may be a peak into the near distant future.
