Hope this skier learned a lesson and will pay less attention to the selfie stick and focus on obstacles downslope next time.
This is a textbook violation of the Skier Responsibility Code rule #2: People ahead or downhill of you have the right-of-way. You must avoid them.
Thankfully this collision didn’t result in any serious injuries as the snowboarder was perfectly fine and the skier walked away with a minor concussion but it could have been far worse.
Remember folks, skiing fast and distracted is a recipe for disaster.
