Roof avalanches, a common winter hazard, occur when accumulated snow on rooftops suddenly slides off, potentially causing harm below. This phenomenon is most prevalent in heavy snowfall areas, where warm temperatures or additional snow can destabilize the existing layer. The resulting avalanche poses significant risks, including injury to people, damage to property, and disruption of activities. Preventive measures, like regular snow removal and structural reinforcements, are essential in mitigating these dangers, especially in densely populated or high pedestrian traffic areas.

In this video, we see a line of people waiting outside a Military Commissariat building located on Oktyabrsky Prospekt in Lyubertsy when a chuck of snow and ice comes crashing down. As a result, four people were injured—two women and two men. They received medical assistance and will make a full recovery.
