The 2022-23 ski season featured $812.4 million in capital improvements at U.S. ski resorts. So which one was the best out of the bunch?

Yesterday, PeakRankings picked the best North American ski resort upgrades from the 2022-23 season. Their top five included the Plunge Express at Telluride, the upgraded Thunder chairlift at Jackson Hole, the replacement of the Red Dog chairlift at Palisades Tahoe, the Lenawee Express at Arapahoe Basin, and the Peaked Mountain/Colter lift expansion at Grand Targhee.

The only one of the projects I’ve experienced in the top five so far was the Lenawee replacement. It was a very brisk 1-degree Farenehit when I visited, so I was counting my blessings that I wasn’t on its predecessor.
