“I’m pretty excited that my home mountain runs on green power. I think it’s huge, and I think Jackson Hole Mountain Resort has the ability to influence a lot of people with this. It’s really accessible. Anybody with a power bill can buy green power.” Director of Energy Conservation Works Phil Cameron

Super happy to announce one of our favorite resorts on planet earth has taken the bold step to a shift towards sustainability and use renewable energy to power its lifts and other operations, making it the largest organization in the valley to make that sustainability shift.

Jackson Hole News & Guide reports resort officials announced earlier this month that they would enter Lower Valley Energy’s Green Power program and begin drawing energy from the Horse Butte Wind Farm near Idaho Falls adding 17 million kilowatt-hours of energy use to the existing system.

Only a hand full of resorts in the country have moved to fully renewable energy and we are optimistic that an industry leader like Jackson Hole making a commitment to sustainability will lead to more big name resorts getting on board. Hats off to Jackson Hole.
