The woman who faked a bear attack in Golden Gate Canyon plead guilty to a misdemeanor charge of false reporting to authorities and was sentenced to 20 hours community service after DNA tests of her clothing only found evidence of contact with a dog.
On September 19th Julie Bosworth, 38, called 911 and reported a bear attacked her around 1:20 p.m. near mile marker 4 on Highway 46. Denver 7 reports after a thorough investigation of the area, including DNA testing, and a follow-up interview with the woman, it was determined the attack was made up (DNA only showed human and dog hairs).

It’s still unknown what the woman’s motivation was but it is known that false claims will be pursued criminally in Colorado. Don’t cry wolf!
