If you live in Bozeman you have no excuse not to practice your beacon skills now that they have opened an avalanche training center inย Beall Park.ย  KTVH spoke withย Assistant Recreation Manager Holly Craneย about the park’s opening:

โ€œWeโ€™re in an awesome community that loves to be outside and do outdoor activities and go on an adventure in the backcountry, but you have to have the gear for emergency situations.

Youโ€™re already in a situation thatโ€™s emotional and stressful, and youโ€™re panicking, so you have to use that gear quickly and know how to use it.

It has three beacons buries so you can so a single search or multiple searches up to three and the more practice you get, the easier it will be for once you get out into the backcountryโ€

The avalanche training park is openย every day from 8:30am to 8:30 pm.ย The Friends of the Gallatin National Forest Avalanche Center will be hosting a free one-hour avalanche awareness talk and one-hour beacon practice at Beall Park tomorrow from 6-8 p.m. so get your friends together, dress warm, and sharpen up your skills.
