251 people were stranded this morning when the lower section of the cable car that accesses the Aiguille du Midi broke down.  

Two helicopters made a reported 45 trips to ferry most of the stranded people back down to the valley floor. A remaining 80 passengers returned to the valley floor on a repaired cable car.

No-one was reported injured in the incident.
