Skier narrowly misses dead-on collision with snowmobile.

Skier @louisvillemd shared quite the scene in the backcountry, demonstrating just one of the many potential dangers that can exist while riding in an uncontrolled area.

It’s a bit of a confusing story, but it sounds like the skier wiped out a few times, hitting unseen rocks hiding underneath the snow. After the first fall, the skier had to turn his snowmobile back over and send it further down the mountain, no big problems there. Then later in his descent the skier wiped out again.

This time, while working to get back up and skiing again, he turned to see a different person’s sled (probably the snowboarder filming) barreling right toward him, dead on. The skier jumped out of the way just in time, and the snowmobile missed him by just a hair.

It’s good practice to ensure that you’re always skiing or snowboarding behind your sled so it can’t hit you, but things can get more complicated when there’s multiple people with multiple snowmobiles out on the hill at the same time. If you’re riding with a bunch of people, it’s probably a good idea to coordinate drops so stuff like this doesn’t happen.
