California — Homewood’s comeback season started late due to the warm weather Tahoe saw, and it frankly didn’t have ideal weather even after opening. Homewood, which didn’t operate during the 2024-25 season to focus on getting its master plan approved, saw its older infrastructure struggle to meet the admittedly challenging demands of this ski season.

Due to its elevation and the warm weather across the region this month, Homewood ended its season on March 17th. However, they will implement part of their master plan to prevent this situation from recurring.

This offseason, 50 new snowguns will be installed across the ski resort. These guns will be located on The Face, Lombard Street, and Homeward Bound trails. This fully automated system will make it easier to make snow, leading to earlier openings and later closings. A new snowmaking pumphouse is also being built and will add new pipes to the network.

The other notable upgrade is the much-anticipated replacement of the Madden chair with a detachable gondola. This will lead to a shorter ride time and the ability to expand their offerings during the offseason.

We’ll keep you posted on what’s sure to be a busy offseason at Homewood.
