Fort Kent, Maine — Lonesome Pine Trails is up north. Way up north. Situated in the border town of Fort Kent, it’s the northernmost ski area not just in Maine, but in all of New England. However, the ski area is currently at a crossroads due to its aging lift infrastructure.

Last week, Lonesome Pine Trails announced it has launched a fundraiser to replace its T-Bar. Originally situated at an upstate New York ski area, Lonesome Pine’s T-Bar opened at its present location during the winter of 1985-86. However, it’s aging, with it now being 62 years old. Without a new lift, the future of the ski area would be in doubt.

The goal is to raise $2.2 million for the project. So far, they have raised over $2,700. You can donate to the efforts here.

About Lonseome Pine Trails

Opened during the 1964-65 season, Lonesome Pine Trails is the northernmost ski area in New England. It serves the local ski area for the people of Fort Kent, as well as the Canadian border towns like Clair. The ski area features 12 trails and two lifts (a T-Bar and a handle tow). There’s also night skiing, with three trails being lit. It installed snowmaking in the early 2000s, leading to a more reliable operating schedule.

The non-profit ski area is run by volunteers, meaning it runs on donations and ski area sales to make it work. Lift tickets only cost $35. Lonseome Pine Trails typically operates on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
