'Mountains of the Moon' avalanche footage.

Mountains of the Moon, a sort of followup to Chris Benchetler’s stunning ski film Fire on the Mountain, is full of some truly remarkable shots and angles and picking one scene that’s better than the rest is near impossible. The scene in which a camera is covered completely by an avalanche certainly competes for that top spot, though.

Benchetler recently appeared on the Bomb Hole Podcast and explained how that scene was shot. The avalanche was no accident, and the camera was intentionally placed in spot where it would be buried.

Pretty wild maneuver to put a very expensive camera in a spot where it could be seriously damaged, but seriously impressive commitment to the shot. The two beacons strapped to the device was definitely good thinking.
