Colorado’s Purgatory Resort just announced today that its 2025–26 ski season will conclude on Sunday, March 29. The resort will mark the final day of its 60th ski season with a base area beach party featuring a rail jam, costume contest, DJ sets, and a color throw at 3:00pm:

“We don’t take adjusting a closing date lightly, but the early heat this year is accelerating our timeline. This season brought its share of challenges, and our team worked hard to keep the mountain running and deliver a great experience for our guests. We’re proud of that effort, and we’re grateful for the incredibly positive feedback from guests who came out, enjoyed the skiing, and made the most of every turn.” –Matt Ericksen, Purgatory Resort Marketing Director

Guests are invited to close out the season at the Purg Beach Ruckus on Sunday, March 29th:

“Help us close out our 60th anniversary with color throws (color provided), DJ sets from DJ Noonz and Forest Thump, foam machines, face painting, and a rail jam built for the snow and comfortable in the dirt. Costumes are a big part of the day. We may not have made it to the official gaper day, but we weren’t going to miss a chance to dress up. Think beach, neon, denim on denim, ridiculous, or anything that stands out. We’ll be handing out prizes for the best looks.”

The celebration begins in the base area at 9 a.m. and includes:

  • Rail jam near Village Express Lift (Lift 1), 12–2 p.m.
  • Color throw finale at 3 p.m.
  • DJ sets from DJ Noonz and Forest Thump
  • Foam machines
  • Costume contest (Best Beach Fit, Brightest/Most Color, Wild Card)
  • Face painting, photo booth, $2 drafts, and food specials

Costumes are encouraged: the louder, brighter, and more ridiculous, the better. The day builds toward a color throw that celebrates the end of another ski season in true Durango style.

With a scheduled closing date of Sunday, March 29, 2026, Purgatory will have operated for 127 days this season after opening on November 22, 2025.
