HAFJELL, Norway — Mikaela Shiffrin earned her 110th World Cup victory Tuesday, winning the slalom at the World Cup Finals and moving within reach of a sixth overall title.

Shiffrin won by a healthy 1.32 seconds over Switzerland’s Wendy Holdener based on combined times from two runs. Germany’s Emma Aicher finished third, 1.36 seconds back.

The result gives Shiffrin a record ninth slalom victory in a single World Cup season and extends her lead in the overall standings. She now holds an 85-point advantage over Aicher heading into the final race of the season, a giant slalom scheduled for Wednesday.

Shiffrin can clinch the overall title with a top-15 finish or if Aicher does not win the race. The overall title is awarded based on points accumulated across all disciplines throughout the season. Aicher, 22, has closed the gap in recent weeks, recording nine top-five finishes in her last 11 races. She trailed Shiffrin by 449 points following the Olympics but cut into the deficit late in the season.

If she secures the title, Shiffrin would tie Austria’s Annemarie Moser-Pröll for the most women’s overall World Cup titles with six. Shiffrin has won nine of the 10 slalom races this season, breaking a tie with Croatia’s Janica Kostelic for the most wins in a single World Cup slalom season.
