Tragic news out of Colorado where the Summit County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating the death of a skier that occurred at Breckenridge Ski Resort on March 11th.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, a male skier visiting from out of state crashed in the Lake Chutes hike-to area on Peak 8, a double-black diamond run. The skier, who was wearing a helmet, was wearing a helmet when he fell.
A bystander reached out to the Breckenridge Ski Patrol after witnessing the crash, leading ski patrol to respond, provide medical care, and transport the skier to the Peak 8 First Aid Room.
Deputies were contacted in regards to the crash around 1:30pm, responding to scene as CPR was in progress. The skier was pronounced dead in the Peak 8 First Aid Room.

The individual’s identity may be released by the Summit County Coroner’s Office at a later time. The coroner is responsible for determining the official cause and manner of death.
