Malone, New York — While Titus Mountain has had a great season, last week was bumpy due to a fire.

Last Thursday night, the top lift shack for Chair One caught fire. The reason why is uncertain. The flames were caught by a groomer who was laying down the corduroy. That employee ended up extinguishing the fire himself. Unfortunately, the structure was completely lost.

For now, Chair 1 remains closed, meaning the terrain it services in inaccessible. The other chairlift that serviced this terrain, Chair II, is no longer operational. Because of this, Titus is offering lift tickets at a reduced price.

About Titus Mountain

The northernmost ski resort in New York is in a snow belt. The ski center features 53 trails, 9 lifts, and a vertical drop of 1,200 feet. Titus also hosts night skiing and snow tubing. During the week, the upper mountain is available for private parties or corporate rentals. The ski resort currently features 10 slopeside chalets and has begun selling lots for real estate development. While the slopes are quiet during the offseason, the owners of Titus run a sand and gravel business to support local projects.
