SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, California — An 8-year-old boy was injured Sunday after falling about 30 feet from a chairlift at Sierra-at-Tahoe ski resort.

The fall occurred around 1:20 p.m. near the top terminal of the Grandview Chair. Ski patrol responded to the scene, provided first aid and transported the child to the base area.

Paramedics with the Lake Valley Fire Protection District and a CalStar 6 medical helicopter arrived shortly afterward. The boy was transferred to the helicopter and flown to Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno for treatment.

Lake Valley Fire Protection District Battalion Chief Perry Quinn said ground crews and the helicopter arrived at about the same time. Air transport was requested due to the child’s age and the distance of the fall.

Officials have not released information about the boy’s condition.
