Corbet’s Couloir is easily one of the most iconic ski runs in North America, if not the world. But despite its fame, it’s not the most difficult run at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. There are several routes that could hold that title, but S&S Couloir is probably the most famous.
Unlike Corbet’s, which can be done without getting any air, S&S features a mandatory drop-in. Corbet’s sees a bunch of people drop in every day it’s open, while S&S will only see a drop here and there. Local skier Liam Thompson is no stranger to the couloir, and this recent video of him hitting it is a great demonstration of how it can be skied with style.
S&S is more difficult than Corbet’s, no doubt, but Corbet’s attracts many more skiers and snowboarders who hope to test their abilities. Plus, the more famous couloir has a great area for watching attempts from above and, more recently, a live camera situated at the top so anyone can watch the wipeouts from their own home.
