Eden, Utah — It’s been a rough season for Nordic Valley.
Like many places at lower elevations in Utah, there hasn’t been much snow. This resulted in a delayed opening at Nordic Valley, a temporary closure earlier this month, and now another extended closure.
Earlier this week, Nordic Valley announced it would pause operations starting on February 24th. After that, wet weather came through, further damaging the snowpack. Yesterday, Nordic Valley announced that it will be closed until further notice.
This winter has also been without the Nordic Express. This new terrain pod, which opened during the 2020-21 season, gave terrain variety for what was originally a mellow ski resort. Low snowfall has kept that terrain pod closed. Ultimately, this winter is a tough season for skiers who live around Ogden and want a cheap place to ski. For now, the best affordable option is to go night skiing at Powder Mountain.

Mountain Capital Partners
It has presumably not been a good winter for Mountain Capital Partners. Several of their ski resorts had delayed openings. Multiple ski resorts have also had to temporarily close operations this winter, including Nordic Valley, Sandia Peak, and Willamette Pass.
With below-average snowfall across its properties, I do wonder how this will impact the company’s future, which has grown in recent years to include South American ski resorts like Valle Nevado.
