Olympic Valley, California — For powder skiers, a bucket list item is getting first tracks on the mothership. Videos from last Friday’s opening are a good example of why that’s the case.
Palisades Tahoe got quite the storm, recording 9.5 feet of snow on the upper mountain and seven feet at the base. Skiers waited Friday morning for the much-anticipated reopening of KT-22, which resulted in a decent-sized lift line. Those in the line got to witness beautiful skiing, with Noah Gaffney being the first to send The Fingers.
YouTuber SkiTNB captured this high-quality footage of the first skiers and riders sending it down KT-22.
Noah ended up sharing his perspective on the line, which he proclaimed to be his “FASTEST RUN DOWN THE FINGERS EVER.” He was indeed charging down the mountain.
Palisades Tahoe captured an alternate angle, zoomed in a bit more, so you can see the other sends.
Unfortunately, it looks like Palisades Tahoe is going back into famine mode. Not much snow is expected over the next 10 days, according to OpenSnow. However, this extra layer of snow will allow skiers and riders to explore the mountain.
