Barrie, Ontario — Early in the morning this past January, a notable ski resort safe theft occurred.

On the morning of January 2nd, it was discovered that a safe containing more than $17,000 CAD (around $12,423 USD) had been raided. In response, the Orillia Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) launched an investigation.

This week, OrillaMatters.com reports that a suspect has been detained. The 49-year-old man was charged with theft over $5,000 CAD.

The individual was released from jail, but is expected to appear in court at some point. However, the money remains missing. Any tips on the location of that dough can be given to OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
