Shiffrin, 30, delivered two dominant runs to win the women’s slalom at the Milan-Cortina Winter Games by 1.50 seconds. Switzerland’s Camille Rast, the reigning world champion, took silver, and Sweden’s Anna Swenn-Larsson earned bronze.
The American built a 0.82-second lead after her first run and extended it with another strong performance in the second, securing her first Olympic medal in eight years.
Shiffrin was shut out at the 2022 Beijing Olympics and finished fourth earlier in the Milan-Cortina Games in the team combined event with Breezy Johnson. She also placed 15th in the slalom and 11th in the giant slalom in individual events at these Games before her breakthrough victory.

Shiffrin holds the record for the most World Cup victories by any alpine skier, male or female, with 108 career wins.
