A magnitude 3.5 earthquake hit southwest of Salt Lake City, Utah, Friday evening at around 6:32pm MST, with a depth of 8.7 kilometers (5.4 miles).
According to the United States Geological Survey Earthquake Hazards Program‘s Did You Feel It program, public reporters claimed to have felt the quake as far south as West Jordan, Utah, and as far north as the Farmington. The center of the quake appears to be in the West Valley City area.
Earthquakes with a magnitude between 2.5 and 5.4 are often felt but cause just minor damage, if any at all. There are around 500,000 quakes of this magnitude around the world every year.
