In the 2026 Olympics US athlete Ben Ogden won the first male XC-skiing medal since 1976 and the first male podium position in the discipline. He got second in the men’s sprint classic race, the race itself is 1.5km and takes only 3 minutes to complete.
After making his Olympic debut in Beijing in 2022 and placing 12th, Ogden can officially call himself an Olympic medalist. Growing up in Vermont, Ogden is no stranger to breaking records. He and his teammates won the first US medal in the Junior World Ski Championships in 2018.
Norwegian skier Johannes Høsflot Klæbo took gold in the classic sprint. This will be his seventh Olympic gold medal as he continues to dominate the sport. His teammate Oskar Opstad Vike took home the bronze medal, proving yet again the strength Norwegians have in cross country skiing.
