Sledding @ Pittsfield State Forest
Sledding @ Pittsfield State Forest

Pittsfield State Forest in the great state of Massachusetts has 30 miles of beautiful trails crisscrossing its incredible 11,000-acres. Locals head to Pittsfield for a wide range of activities in the warmer months including hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding but there’s a winter sport that sets the place apart when it comes to fun in the Taconic Mountain Range, sledding.

When there is enough snow cover, sledders can head to Berry Pond (elevation of 2,150 feet, the highest natural body of water in Massachusetts) and ride down Shamrock Boulevard all the way to the Lulu Brook parking lot. The ride stretches nearly 2 miles and is unofficially the longest in the state.

Parking is free until May 24th, so all you need is your sled of choice to enjoy this extended ride. We would recommend a toboggan with some steering control as there are some twists and turns you will need to negotiate. Be safe, have fun, letter rip!
