Freestyle skiing at the Olympics.
Freestyle skiing at the Olympics.

Every sport in the Winter Olympics is truly impressive and fun to watch, from curling to figure skating, bobsled, skeleton, and nordic skiing. But when it comes to our favorite Olympic sports, we usually slide toward the skiing and snowboarding. We went to our Facebook followers in search of the best Olympic ski disciplines, and these were the results.

4 Most Entertaining Olympic Ski Disciplines According To Our Facebook Followers

  1. Downhill – The clear favorite, the downhill skiing discipline of alpine ski racing took the first place position. It’s high speed and excitement garnered the most attention from commentors.
  2. Biathlon – In a surprise 2nd place, this was the only nordic event to make our top 4, with our followers citing the unique combination of cross-country skiing and shooting and the challenge of controlling heart rate and breathing.
  3. Moguls – Many people commented stating that they think moguls has gotten less exciting over the past several years, but it still stands among the most entertaining. Plus, the addition of dual moguls is sure to make things interesting.
  4. Ski Cross – The head-to-head action, high speed, jumps, and banked turns all make this one of the most entertaining events to watch every Winter Olympics.

Several other disciplines were mentioned to lesser degrees, including slalom, giant slalom, and alpine combined, but none of them garnered the same attention as the four above. Interestingly, most freestyle events were mentioned just a couple of times, not quite cracking the top 8. Personally, I’m most excited to watch the ski mountaineering debut in this year’s Winter Olympics.
