Oregon โ€” Oregon’s rough ski season is expected to take a turn in the right direction this week, but not before another ski resort paused its operations.

On Saturday, Willamette Pass announced that its pausing operations following a heavy rain event on February 8th. Like the rest of Oregon’s ski industry, it’s been dealing with spring conditions and a diminishing snowpack. As of Saturday, Willamette Pass has only recieved 36″ of natural snow, and snowmaking has only helped so much. When they were open, it was only on a limited amount of terrain.

Luckily, the past 24 hours have brought snow back to the ski resort. We’ll see how long their closure takes, but it won’t likely be long.

Willamette Pass joins Hoodoo Ski Area, Mt. Ashland, and Mt. Hood Skibowl as Oregon ski areas/resorts that have temporarily suspended operations. In addition, three ski areas in Oregon haven’t been able to open at all. There’s also Ski Bluewood in Washington that recently suspended operations. More help is on the way, as snow is expected later this week. Whether it’s enough to reopen all four of these mountains is the million-dollar question.
