Waterville, Washington โ€” One of the most historic ski areas in the West has yet to operate this winter.

Badger Mountain is among the most notable mom-and-pop operations in the Pacific Northwest, with very affordable lift tickets. However, it has limited operations because it relies on natural snowfall. Currently, they need help on two major projects.

The non-profit that runs the ski area currently has minimal (if any) money in its bank account, and bills are due. They need to keep the power on and pay for insurance, which costs $350 a month. Their snow groomer is also broken, but they’re being offered a used snow groomer.

You can help them out by sending a check to HighLine Grain Growers, C/O Paul Katovich, PO Box 649, Waterville, WA, 98858. Alternatively, you can Venmo them (@badgermtski).

About Badger Mountain

Opened back in 1938, Badger Mountain is one of the last community-run ski areas in Washington. The 800-foot vertical drop ski area features three lifts. With lift tickets of $25, it’s among the most affordable ski areas in the West. There’s also a great sledding hill, with a $10 daily fee. They also offer an affordable food-and-drink combo for $8 with allegedly the best burgers of all time.
