Heads up Mt. Baker skiers and snowboarders, beginning Monday, February 2nd the resort will be closed for 5 days as crews from Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) repair extensive damage on State Route 542 (SR 542) that occurred during December’s historic storms.
“The Ski Area will be closed next week, Monday 2/2 through Friday 2/6 while our friends at WSDOT and Granite Construction continue work on Highway 542. As always, we are super grateful of their efforts to keep SR 542 open and flowing smooth!” -Mt. Baker
HIGHWAY 542 UPDATE for FEB. 2 – 6, 2026:
Hwy 542 will be closed east of Glacier Feb. Monday 2 – the afternoon of Friday 6, with no public access to the Ski Area.
The Ski Area will be closed Feb. 2 – 6 and will re-open for daily operations Saturday Feb. 7.
While there is never a good time for the highway to be shut down during the season, we appreciate WSDOT and their contractor working with us and scheduling this necessary work during a time that will be least impactful to our operations and public access. We would like to thank all our partners at WSDOT for their hard work and responsiveness as they have coordinated with us throughout this project. Without them and the work they do for the traveling public, we could not operate the Ski Area!
