Stealing skis or snowboards from a resort is a truly scummy thing to do. We want our mountains to feel safe so we can leave our gear behind and hit the aprรจs bar without concern, but there are unfortunately some truly selfish people out there who don’t respect other people’s property.
This snowboard thief was captured on security camera stealing a snowboard at Breckenridge. He appears to hover around the board for quite a while, deciding whether or not to take it. It is possible that this guy took the board on accident thinking it was his, but the context implies otherwise. Fortunately this story didn’t end all that poorly.
Reddit user u/fingerslug, who shared the security camera footage, stated in a comment that they were able to identify the guy in the video. According to the update, the snowboard owner contacted the guy by phone, with the thief initially denying taking it. Once fingerslug sent the thief the security footage and told him police were involved, he confirmed that it was him in the video and met up with the owner to return the board. The board owner gave him the benefit of the doubt and didn’t press charges, but the situation as a whole certainly feels very suspicious.
