Cornice collapses can be incredibly dangerous, having the potential to crush people, pull them down mountains and potentially over rocky cliffs, and cause larger avalanches. Professional skier Josh Daiek doesn’t seem to be impacted by cornices as much as a regular skier or snowboarder would be, though.
This incredible line starts with a heart pounding moment as he looked over the edge. The cornice he was standing and about to launch off gave out under his feet, causing him to fall to his hip on the snow beneath.
However, Josh being Josh, he managed to regain control through the fall and kicked off what wound up being a seriously impressive line featuring some gnarly cliff drops and narrow shoots.
For most people, a cornice giving out beneath their feet would at least require some reevaluation, but Josh handles it with beautiful grace and just hops back up on his feet. Major props are certainly deserved for that one.
