Available now on Prime Video: Downhill Skiers – Ain’t No Mountain Steep Enough features ski champion Marco Odermatt for Ascot Elite and Blue Bird Pictures. The new series provides a detailed behind the scenes look at competitive downhill skiing. This comes as a four-part mini series effectively titled Downhill Skiers – Ain’t No Mountain Steep Enough. While the series focuses on Swiss skier Marco Odermatt after his record breaking run on the championship circuit, skiers Jasmine Flury, Cyprien Sarrazin, and Marco Schwarz also make appearances in the doc.
“All skiers need to be a little bit crazy,” is a stand-out quote from the trailer and is a perfect example of the drive these athletes have to continually push the boundaries of their abilities. Austrian filmmaker Gerald Salmina is no stranger to this genre after his 2014 sports doc Streif – One Hell Of A Ride following athletes as they prepared for the most dangerous race course in the world.
Downhill racing can seem straight forward from an outside perspective but this doc brings to light the intense training, life-changing injuries, and competitive spirit that all lie in cohesion with this sport. These athletes are constantly pushing the boundaries of their bodies to see just how fast they can become, soaring through the air and hitting gates at full speed, generating an intensity that keeps the audience and the athletes electrified.
