Lac La Belle, Michigan — Mount Bohemia’s New Year’s resolution will be to make some upgrades.
Over the past month, Mount Bohemia has been asking guests for feedback on a variety of projects they’re considering for 2026. Among these are an expansion of the snowcat terrain on Voodoo Mountain, a new backcountry touring zone, adding slopesidereal estate to the mountain, further improvements to the Nordic Spa, and employee housing.
As it stands, Voodoo Mountain is home to Bohemia’s snowcat operations. On the map for Voodoo, there have been runs that have been marked for future expansion. What Bohemia is thinking is adding these new trails for the 2026-27 season.
After feedback, Bohemia decided to move forward on the snowcat terrain and also dedicate a portion of this new area to backcountry ski tourers. If implemented, it would create the first backcountry zone at a Midwest ski resort. An overnight backcountry lodge with a sauna is eventually planned.
Real estate development is another focus. Bohemia is planning to launch real estate sales for properties at the ski resort.
Other recent additions include a hot/cool pool at the Nordic Spa, more parking, and employee housing on Sand Point Road.
On January 28th, a meeting will be held to discuss real estate offerings, the Voodoo Mountain expansion, and continued additions to the Nordic Spa.
More Future Plans
After these improvements, it seems like more projects are on tap. In a Storm Skiing Podcast interview with the founder, Lonie Glieberman, he discussed what they’re thinking in the years ahead. One idea is to replace the double chair. The new chairlift that goes over the summit and down into Haunted Valley. Not installing a separate lift serving only Haunted Valley would eliminate the need to install a generator there.
Another upgrade would be a summit lodge, providing guests with an additional place to eat and the potential to generate more offseason revenue.
As of January 23rd, Mount Bohemia is nearly 100% open, with 150 inches of natural snowfall received so far this winter. However, the lifts were closed today due to cold temperatures and heavy winds.
