Quebec The season could end soon for one of Quebec’s (and Canada’s) best ski resorts.

On January 2nd, workers at Le Massif voted to go on strike. The Massif Workers’ Union is part of the CSN. The workers are seeking better pay, more vacation and sick time, and better safety measures. In response, the ski resort shut down beginning on January 3rd. The ski resort reopened on January 6th, but only with limited terrain.

This past weekend, the situation escalated by a couple of notches. In a press release shared to media outlets, Le Massif stated that if no deal is reached by January 20th, they will shut down operations for the 2025-26 season. Workers are reportedly voting on the latest offer from the ski resort today.

“Le Massif de Charlevoix needs to know the position of the union and employees quickly. If there is no agreement, arbitration remains an option,” said Claude Choquette, president of Groupe Le Massif.

“However, we must note that this solution shows that the employer is still unwilling to recognize the true value of our work or to make the necessary compromises, stated the union. “Instead, it is choosing to use ultimatums and threats to try to break us and force us back to work on our knees.”

It seems like if a deal is reached, it’ll need to come soon. Or else, it will be the latest strange twist in Quebec’s bizarre ski season. This is a developing story, and we’ll keep you posted at Unofficial Networks as to what happens next.
