Mentone, Alabama โ After years of being out of service, Alabama’s ski area is back operating for the second winter in a row.
On Sunday, Cloudmont Ski & Golf Resort opened up for the 2025-26 season. This was a limited opening, as they allowed only 50 people to ski during a specific time frame. There was a day session and an evening session on Sunday. Today features another day session, although there only offering day skiing. Lift tickets cost $50 for adults.
Cloudmont reopened fully last winter for the first time since 2020. While there were a few winters between 2020 and 2024 when they reopened, it was with limited operations. This was due to declining health in the owner’s family. A new group of dedicated skiers and riders came in to help with operations, sparking new life to the unique ski area.
Workers were busy this offseason refreshing the ski area. Among those improvements was acquiring snowguns from other Southeast ski resorts, such as Hatley Pointe. They also created an online store to generate sales. It’s an inspiring comeback story, and it’s cool to see this place still being able to operate.
