Franklin, New Hampshire โ€” It’s been a couple of years of evolution at the Veterans Memorial Recreation Area. The ski area installed a snowmaking system a few years ago and has grown its offseason activities thanks to a dedicated team of mountain bike trail builders. The latest addition, which will help grow the skiing experience, debuted earlier this month.

A few weekends ago, The Vets debuted a new magic carpet. Previously, new skiers and riders had to ride the rope tow or T-Bar to access the slopes, which is a tricky introduction to the sport. This magic carpet allows for easy learning and simple loading and unloading.

The opening comes as the ski area faces fundraising challenges. There’s this project that they’re raising funds for, as well as the planned T-Bar replacement due to the age of the current one. You can support the Vets by donating here.

It’s one of the several new lifts at New Hampshire ski areas/resorts this year. So far, new quad chairlifts have opened at Bretton Woods and Pats Peak. King Pine added a new magic carpet to its tubing area, Loon added a new surface lift to its beginner area, Whaleback’s new surface lift debuted earlier this week, and Waterville Valley is in the final stages of its T-Bar project.
