Skiing the longest run in Austria.
Skiing the longest run in Austria.

A nice long groomer run is always a fun time and a great way to get your legs burning, but there are very few ski trails in North America that can compare to some of the enormous routes found in Europe. Austria’s longest run, the Schwarze Schneid ski run in Sölden, is 15km, or just around 9 miles, and it descends around 6234 feet. European ski instructor Marius Quast shared what it’s like to ski the entire run in one go.

The run starts at an altitude around 10958 feet, taking you through high alpine terrain, glacier slopes, wide alpine meadows, and increasingly narrow passages until you make it down to Sölden in the valley. If you’re looking for a ski area in Austria to explore massive long runs, Sölden is the place to do it.
