Tragic news out of Bat Yam, Israel, as a 46-year-old kitesurfer was killed after extreme winds slammed into the coast.
According to the local news, the victim was a longtime kitesurfing enthusiast with more than two decades of kitesurfing experience. Strong winds lifting the man around 500 feet into the air before he slammed into rocks. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
The victim was one of several caught in the wind, with several other riders reportedly being injured. Professional athlete Gera Klyachkin shared footage from the incident, explaining that a wind burst reached over 60 knots.
