Tragic news out of Utah where two individuals, including a 6-year-old boy, were found deceased in Canyonlands National Park.
According to the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office, park rangers in the Island in the Sky District of Canyonlands were alerted to a suspicious vehicle parked on the Shafer Trail at approximately 8:15am on Thursday, January 8th. Upon arrival, the rangers found an unresponsive male juvenile, age 6, inside the vehicle.
The rangers immediately conducted life-saving measures and the child was brought to a local hospital. Sadly he was pronounced dead upon arrival. Another individual was found deceased in the same area outside the vehicle.
KSL reports that the identity of the child has been confirmed and next of kin have been notified. The second individual, who was reportedly an adult female and showed signs of trauma, has not yet been identified.
Based on surveillance video, the two entered the park at around 4am on Wednesday, January 7th. The incident remains an active investigation and further information will be released as it becomes available.
