Quebec โ€” In the midst of the ongoing strike at Telluride Ski Resort, another mountain’s workers are now on strike.

Workers at Le Massif began their strike today (January 2nd). In response, Le Massif announced this morning that the mountain is closed until further notice. This closure will include the lifts, trails, dining, shops, and other activities like sledding. Sacrรฉ bleu!

โ€œAt this time, the situation is still evolving, and we are doing everything possible to minimize the impact on our guestsโ€™ experience,โ€ said the Quebec ski resort.

According to CTV News, the Syndicat des travailleuses et travailleurs du Massif (a branch of the CSN union) is accusing the ski resort of leaving negotiations this week, cancelling planned meetings. The union represents around 300 workers at the ski resort. Follow-up meetings with the ski resort earlier this week were reportedly cancelled.

โ€œThe union has reached out, sent clear signals, and repeated its warnings. Despite this, the employer has chosen to walk away from the table. The members never intended to go on strike. Unfortunately, the employer is forcing our hand with its blatant unwillingness to negotiate,โ€ said Annick Simard, the President of the union.

About Le Massif

The Quebec ski resort features 53 trails, eight lifts (including three high-speed chairlifts and a gondola), 406.3 skiable acres to explore, and a vertical drop of 2,526 feet. Thereโ€™s also a vast sidecountry area for expert skiers and riders to explore. In terms of snow, it gets 254 inches each season. It also has sufficient snowmaking that opens the mountain early and keeps the terrain open into the spring. The view from the slopes isnโ€™t too bad either, as you get a stunning view of the St. Lawrence River. Le Massif is a new Ikon Pass partner, as it joined the multi-mountain pass for the 2025-26 season.

With a score of 66 out of 100, Le Massif is rated by PeakRankings as the top ski resort in the East.
