Telluride Ski Resort just issued an update on the snowmaking operations as the Colorado resort enters it’s third day of closure due to a ski patrol union strike. They have fired up their snowguns despite the resort being completely shutdown for guests. Telluride plans on taking advantage of the recent cold spell to produce enough snow to open additional terrain once they are able to safely resume accepting guests. No details provided by the resort on a timeline when they will reopen or what their “safety plan” is when they do:
“Snowmaking operations are underway once again. Following an unusually warm early season, consistently cold temperatures have allowed us to resume production. We will continue snowmaking efforts as conditions permit to prepare and open as much terrain as possible. We are actively developing and refining our safety plan to support a safe reopening as soon as possible. Please stay tuned for further updates.” -Telluride Ski Resort
Telluride does not currently have a plan to reopen and warns that anyone trespassing on the resort day or night will be prosecuted and if they have a season pass it will be pulled.
“Due to the Ski Patrolโs unfortunate choice to strike, we have made the difficult decision to close the resort on Saturday, December 27th. Currently, we have no idea how long their strike will last so we will continue to work on a plan that allows us to safely open again as soon as possible. All uphill and downhill access to the mountain is closed day and night. There is no public access, anyone trespassing on the mountain will be prosecuted.ย We will continue to share updates as more information becomes available and appreciate the patience and understanding of our guests and community.” -Telluride Ski Resort
