Logan, Utah — It’s not a holly, jolly Christmas at Beaver Mountain.
While Beaver Mountain has previously had slow starts to the season, the 2025-26 season is different. While they have a snow base there, a recent rainstorm caused notable damage to the white stuff. Because of that, Beaver Mountain has yet to open for the season, and won’t be open for Christmas. According to KSL, it’s reportedly the first time in decades (spanning back to at least the late 1970s) that it won’t be open for Christmas.
Beaver Mountain is one of the only ski resorts in the state without snowmaking. The ski resort has reportedly tried drilling for water a couple of times, but has had no success in finding a reliable source. I do wonder whether this situation will make them more creative in finding a water source.
According to OpenSnow, powder is in the forecast, so we will see if it’s enough to open up.
